Our mission
Most online calculator sites in India are slow, ad-heavy, and quietly out of date — the EMI calculator that still uses last year's rates, the income-tax tool that hasn't been updated since the new regime changed, the BMI page that ignores the WHO Asian-Indian cutoffs. We built figuretools.com to fix that one tool at a time: minimal pages, no tracking, formulas from primary sources, and a visible "Last verified" date on every tool so you never have to guess.
How we keep this current
- After every Union Budget we re-check tax slabs, surcharge bands, standard deduction, rebate limits, and TDS thresholds.
- After RBI / EPFO / GST Council notifications we update repo / reverse-repo references, EPF interest rate, and GST slab changes.
- For rate-driven tools (EMI, FD, RD, gold, LPG, electricity), we either pin the rate to a specific FY and show a "Rates as of …" note, or — where rates change weekly — we ask you to enter the current rate yourself and link to the official source.
- Every tool shows the last verification date in its header pill, so you can see when the page was last checked.
Sources & methodology
We don't invent formulas. Each tool category draws from these primary sources:
Finance & Tax
- Income Tax Department, India — slabs, rebate, surcharge, deductions.
- EPFO — EPF / EPS rules, interest rates, gratuity formula (Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972).
- Reserve Bank of India — repo rate, lending benchmarks, FD / RD interest conventions.
- GST Council / GSTN — GST slabs and CGST/SGST split.
- NPS Trust / NSDL — NPS allocation and annuity rules.
- National Savings Institute — PPF, SSY, SCSS rates.
Health & Fitness
- WHO BMI categories, plus the Asian-Indian cutoffs (overweight ≥23, obese ≥25) used by ICMR / Indian Obesity guidelines.
- BMR — Mifflin-St Jeor equation; activity multipliers per FAO/WHO/UNU.
- ICMR-NIN RDA for protein, water, and macros (India-specific).
- Heart-rate zones — ACSM guidelines; max HR via the Tanaka formula (208 − 0.7 × age).
Education
- UGC 10-point CGPA scale and percentage conversion (CGPA × 9.5).
- CBSE / state-board grade boundaries where applicable.
Converters & Math
- BIPM / SI definitions for length, mass, temperature, energy, and area.
- IANA tz database for time-zone conversions and DST rules.
Utility & Rates
- Indian Oil (IOCL) — LPG cylinder pricing reference; subsidy as per PAHAL DBTL.
- IBJA — published gold & silver rates.
- State DISCOM tariff orders for electricity-bill slabs.
If you spot a formula or rate that's drifted, tell us and we'll fix it within a working day.
What makes this different
- India-first. INR formatting, Indian tax regimes, 28-state professional tax, Asian-Indian BMI cutoffs.
- Fast. Every page is under 50 KB. No frameworks, no third-party JS bundles.
- Private. No accounts, no analytics that profile you, no inputs leaving your device.
- Honest. When a tool can't be exact (gold price, LPG rate, EMI rate), we say so and ask you to enter the current value.
Who we are
figuretools.com is built and maintained by a small independent team in India. We don't take ad-network money, we don't run an affiliate funnel for loans or insurance, and we have no plans to add a "premium" tier. The site is funded out of pocket and stays that way.
Frequently asked questions
Is figuretools.com really free?
Yes, 100%. Every tool is completely free — no sign-up, no paywall, no premium tier. We plan to keep it that way.
Is my data safe?
All calculations run entirely in your browser. We never send your inputs to any server. We don't run third-party trackers or behavioural ads.
How do you keep tax slabs and rates up to date?
We re-check every tax tool after each Union Budget and after RBI / EPFO / GST Council notifications. Each tool's header shows a "Last verified" date so you can see when it was last checked.
Which financial year do the tax tools support?
Tax tools currently support FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) and FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28) under both the old and new regimes where applicable.
Can I rely on these calculators for legal or medical decisions?
Use them for personal planning. For binding decisions — filing taxes, signing a loan, taking medical action — please cross-check with a qualified professional or the official source we link to.
Can I suggest a new tool?
Yes — head to our contact page and tell us what you need. If it's useful for Indian users, we'll consider it for the next release.
