How Business Days Are Counted

Business days, also called working days, are weekdays during which normal business operations take place. This calculator lets you choose whether Saturdays count as work days — a common consideration in India where banks and government offices follow different Saturday schedules.

Business Days = Calendar Days − Sundays − Excluded Saturdays − Holidays

Saturday Rules in India

Indian banks observe a 5-day week with all Saturdays off. Many government offices and schools work on alternate Saturdays (typically the 2nd and 4th Saturdays are off). Private companies vary — some follow a 5-day week while others work all Saturdays. Choose the option that matches your situation.

Indian National Holidays

Three national holidays are gazetted across India: Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October). These are excluded when the "Exclude Indian national holidays" option is checked. Your employer may observe additional holidays.
