How to Calculate GPA
GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated by dividing the total grade points earned by the total credits attempted. Each subject's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours to get quality points.
4.0 Scale vs 10.0 Scale
The 4.0 scale is commonly used in the United States, Canada, and many international universities. The 10.0 scale is widely used in Indian universities and follows the AICTE/UGC grading system.
On the 4.0 scale, an A or A+ is worth 4.0 points, while on the 10.0 scale, an O (Outstanding) grade is worth 10 points.
Grade Point Values
4.0 Scale: A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D = 1.0, F = 0.0
10.0 Scale: O = 10, A+ = 9, A = 8, B+ = 7, B = 6, C = 5, P = 4, F = 0

Frequently Asked Questions
How is GPA calculated?
GPA = Sum of (Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Total Credit Hours. For example, if you have 3 subjects with grades A (4.0), B (3.0), C (2.0) and credits 4, 3, 3 respectively: GPA = (4×4 + 3×3 + 2×3) ÷ (4+3+3) = 3.1.
