How to Calculate Tip
The tip amount is calculated by multiplying the bill by the tip percentage. The total is then split equally among all diners.
Tip = Bill Amount × (Tip % ÷ 100)
Total = Bill Amount + Tip
Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People
Tipping Culture in India
Tipping is not mandatory in India but is a common practice to appreciate good service. In restaurants, a tip of 5%–15% of the bill is typical. Many restaurants include a service charge of 5%–10%, so check your bill before adding an extra tip.
Typical Tip Ranges
- Restaurants: 5%–15% (or round up to the nearest ₹50/₹100)
- Delivery: ₹20–₹50 per order
- Hotels: ₹50–₹100 per service
- Salons: 10%–15% of the bill
When to Tip More or Less
Consider tipping more for exceptional service, large groups, or during festive seasons. If a service charge is already added, an additional tip is optional but always appreciated.
